History
We are celebrating over 75 years of academic excellence in our community! Wellington Junior High School opened in 1964 after serving as Wellington High School since 1926. A new building was built in 1993 with an addition in 2001, another in 2007 and another in 2011. As of the fall of 2009, we are Wellington Middle School (WMS), grades 6, 7 and 8! A long line of successful students and athletes have come through the doors of our school!
Learning culture
Our primary mission is to educate every student with high-quality instruction and learning in every classroom every day. We recognize that teaching and learning must be interactive, meaningful, and appropriate to each student’s development and learning style. WMS strives to be a safe, nurturing school where self-confidence, self-worth, achievement, and initiative are promoted and celebrated! Our motto: Achievement – Commitment – Community is a big part of all we do at our school!
Academic environment
Staff, students, parents/guardians, and community work to:
• Set measurable school goals for which we are accountable.
• Teach fundamental and advanced skills as required by the PSD curriculum, state standards,
• and the school community.
• Support interdisciplinary learning and encourage growth.
• Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for learning.
• Promote a productive work ethic and listen to students’ needs.

History:
Built in 1973, Eyestone Elementary School is located in Wellington, 10 miles north of Fort Collins. Eyestone is named in honor of former teacher, principal, superintendent, and past mayor of Wellington, Robert E. Eyestone. Eyestone was remodeled in 1989, 1996, and 2001.
Learning Culture:
Eyestone is a professional learning community where every adult shares responsibility for the learning of every child. Our staff serves as role models for our students by their involvement in continuous learning. We are proud of our “family atmosphere,” within which we emphasize academic excellence in a warm, friendly, caring environment.
Academic Environment:
Eyestone staff meets the needs of all learners in our classrooms through differentiation of instruction, an inclusive service delivery model for all student services, and collaboration both within and between our teams. Together, we work to create a culture of high academic expectations in a climate of care and concern for all staff and students
Instructional & Enrichment Programs:
In addition to receiving a standards-based education in all core subjects, all students at Eyestone participate in music, art, PE, and technology classes. Our character education program, Cougar Pride, is woven throughout the instructional day. Students participate in ECO week, choir, Odyssey of the Mind, and our after-school running club, Cats on the Run. Other programs offered at Eyestone include full-day and half-day kindergarten, Head Start, preschool, and BASE camp.
Opportunities for parents:
Eyestone has a great working relationship with our parent partners. We have two active and hard-working groups of parents in our PTO and on our school SAC team. Parent volunteers provide essential support for classroom instruction, field trips, and annual events such as our book fairs, movie nights, ice cream social, and field day. We welcome all our parents to join in our educational partnerships.

An Extraordinary Education for Every child — Every day. In our supportive environment, students will use academic skills, develop thinking skills, and become confident, empowered learners. Rice Elementary is located in Wellington, Colorado, a small rural community located 10 miles north of Fort Collins. Built in 2007, it is one of four schools in Poudre School district (PSD) with the same floor plan. The PSD Sustainable Design Guidelines were used which makes Rice an inspiring place to learn in. Rice Elementary was designed to earn the Energy Star and has scored a perfect 100 in the past two years.
History
Rice Elementary School opened fall 2007. The school is named after Edgar Rice, Jr., a long-time and well-regarded educator, administrator, and resident of the Wellington area.
Learning Culture
At Rice Elementary, students engage in learning with Head, Hands, and Heart. An appropriate academic challenge is provided for each child; hands-on projects keep students actively engaged, and relevant subject matter makes learning a joyous experience. High expectations are established for both academic achievement and behavior. Rice is a Positive Behavior Support school. Students exhibit SOAR behavior every day. SOAR stands for Self-control, Optimism, Appreciation, and Respect.
Academic Environment
The staff and parents at Rice have chosen to embrace the PSD standards-based literacy and mathematics curriculum and follow the Colorado Academic Standards. A focus on inquiry and critical thinking skills characterize instructional delivery. Our Science Room provides materials and tools for extensive science exploration.
Instructional & Enrichment Programs
Art, music, P.E., media-tech, and science classes provide students with a well-rounded curriculum. Extra units of study such as guitar in music and the traversing wall in P.E. make our specials program unique. We offer full- and half-day kindergarten programs as well as both tuition-based and need-based Early Childhood programs. After school enrichment programs include a variety of classes such as choir, dance, sign language, scrapbooking, and brain games. The Raptor Squad, a student technology, team films and broadcasts the school news daily. BASE Camp childcare is available before and after school.
Opportunities for Parents
Parents play an integral role in our site-based decision-making team. There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer in our classrooms, office, and media center. Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) plays an active role in fundraising, supporting teachers, and hosting community and family events. Family nights include literacy night, science night, math night, and core night.
